Written by Stella Abbey, adapted by Ann Cook, performed by The Winsham Players
Jubilee Hall, 4th December 2016, after the lighting of the Christmas tree
A complicated and improbable tale of lost children and romantic aspirations set in an Georgian setting was a popular diversion attended by many who had been at the Christmas Tree lighting-up ceremony an hour or so earlier. Encouraged by the mulled wine and hot mince pies served at the event by the Market Cross, they were ready for some more light- hearted entertainment, where they could sit down and warm up!
This was Ann Cook's first production for Winsham Players, and she decided to present it as a radio play-no costumes and the set was a broadcasting studio. An unusual idea, but one that met the problems of the short period of time she had to meet the production deadline suggested to her.
It all went down very well, and the event established that The Winsham Players did have a good and positive future with a new Producer and Director.
